Aggression in children with autism are triggered from; blood sugar drops, yeast, fungus, bacteria, and parasites plus environmental toxins and, of course, wrong foods in school. These disorders cause excitation in the brain and can lead to restlessness, irritability, insomnia, even seizures.
That’s all well and good but what are some good remedies?
Researcher, Jean Genet, an autism survivor believes that GABA is one remedy. Gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is the chief inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It plays an important role in regulating neuronal excitability throughout the nervous system. GABA is also directly responsible for the regulation of muscle tone. It stops aggression and hitting by inducing relaxation and reducing anxiety.
GABA is available online or at health food stores in either pill or liquid form. Genet suggests trying 500 mg of straight GABA in the morning before the child starts their day. If the aggression persists you can apply it at night before bed since it has a slightly sedative effect. GABA has been shown to enhance immunity under stressful conditions.
There are few if any side effects of GABA. Some users have experienced some mild tingling sensations around the face and neck area after supplementing GABA. Some users also notice a brief and mild change in heart rate or breathing patterns. These GABA side effects quickly disappear and are not harmful. Not everyone experiences these side effects, so you may, or may not experience these GABA side effects.
Another remedy is Valerian Root. Valerian has an affinity for GABA receptors, likely due to the relatively high GABA content in valerian itself. Valerian Root has often been used in complementary and alternative medicine for its calming or sedative properties. Valerian Root is best taken as a dietary supplement in capsule or tablet form. It can also be prepared as a tea. Although the side effects are few a parent should consult a health professional before starting any treatment.
Genet’s own research shows that the child’s brain uses certain brain wave frequencies to neutralize stress. Unfortunately, the chemical reaction from vaccines disrupt the formation of these frequencies thus creating stress which leads to aggression. Fortunately for parents of children with autism, Genet’s research as created Cranial Dynamics™ technology that reintroduces the stress relieving frequencies on a CD disk during the child’s sleep cycle. The child wakes up with less stress and less manifested aggression.
